WEEK 2<\/strong><\/p>\n

If you liked week 1 than you had a second helping in week 2. Seven teams got at least a second charting. One team (Apple Valley) was doubled up in the week making it eight. Were these teams better in the second go around? Of course, there are plenty of variables. No one is replaying the first game. It is a VUCA world. So is the pp100 better? Is the ppplay better? It was a \u2018wash\u2019 with four of the teams improving, and four declining. It should keep the rest of AAAA awake at night as Hopkins found ways to improve. They had the biggest jump. Rosemount dropped the most, but they had to face the Royals in week 2. But looking at the totals week two was down -4.15.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

Looking at ppplay Hopkins has the best mark at 114.3 and that was this week. Last week they were at 85.56. The average across two weeks for ppplay\u00a0 for all teams is 71.25. Five teams are at 100 or better in that category. Three live in the Lake Conference, the most demanding conference in the state. When teams are at 70 ppplay or better they are a collective 25-4. Above 90 it is a perfect 9-0.<\/p>\n

COACHING MILESTONES<\/strong><\/p>\n

I was present for two coaching milestones during the week. On Tuesday at River Falls Willie Taylor of Stillwater picked up win #500. On Saturday at St. Thomas Winona Cotter coach Pat Bowlin earned #600.<\/p>\n

SEEDING THE STATE<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Some adjustments. Many may question DeLaSalle still at #1 in AAA. Losing to two out of state powers, the second not at full strength, does not dislodge them from the high perch. There is a third #1 at AA so far after three listings. This indicates that the AA race will be volatile.<\/p>\n

THE WEEK BY NUMBERS<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

What is the difference between class? Is there a difference. Yes there is. Roughly it is 10 points per 100. AAAA is the cream of the crop with close to 89 pp100, about 13 more than AAA. Granted this is the high end teams for the second straight week for AAAA. It will remain to be seen if the lower level AAAA teams can maintain that spread. There were some massacres in the mix this week. There were five running time games, only two decided by one possession. Best pp100: LaCrosse Aquinas 135.00 v DeLaSalle. The Blugolds took advantage of the 3 point line cashing in 16 times for the game, 14 in the first half alone when they shredded the eLaSalle defense. Notice there was no D in eLaSalle. Not having Nurjei Weems may have impacted that strategy.<\/p>\n

Best Dpp100: Winona Cotter with 38.33 v Visitation. After spotting the Blazers to a 6-0 lead the Ramblers rambled to a 50-17 finish.<\/p>\n

31 CLUB<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

What is it? Points + D Stops + Distributions. Think of it as a triple double.<\/p>\n

There were 20 entries into this exclusive club in Week two, down 12 from the week before. Why was it down? Too much tryptophan? There actually more contests this week I charted 17 to 12. Caitlin Clark of Dowling Catholic in Des Moines has set the bar high with a 66 score, the only player to get to the 61 Club so far this year. Last year Frannie Hottinger of Cretin-Derham Hall had a 68 score to lead all of 2018-19. Seniors ruled this week with<\/p>\n
