It should be restated to the “panic” about the weather. With the impending storm coming on Friday and Saturday, games started falling by the wayside as early as Thursday before the first snowflake fell—over 24 hours in advance. Five years ago, this would not have occurred. Now this is standard procedure. The “perfect storm” also included the potential for a very long weekend since MLK day is set for Monday. Now there will be a backlog of games cascading the rest of the year. The potential for some games to vanish from the schedule is real. I am tired of Atlanta, home of the Weather Channel, setting the agenda for our state. We are NOT Georgia. It is going to snow. It is going to be cold. Very Cold. This is Minnesota. It sets us apart. Send me the hearty souls that can face the challenge of the weather and not cower and quiver under the bed.

I was out on the roads Monday when the roads were not pleasant. What is required is sensible driving. No, you can not drive over 70 on highway 52 in those conditions. I was at about 45 to 50 mph from Mayo to Cannon Falls. You need to create space with the car in front of you. Sure, the passing lane was snow compacted, but the point is to be patient on the road. There was not one car in the ditch that night.

The metro games on Friday could have and should have been played. I know the roads in the open country may have been different, but MN511 indicated the metro was blue—partially covered—-basically one step up from normal. The roads I traveled Monday were pink (completely covered). Minnesota is not for the timid. It is time to redeem and reclaim our rugged, tough, bold “Bud Grant” Minnesotan heritage and not turn into a squishy, squirmy, softies safe and sound in their solitude.

QUEST FOR 100

26 teams to go. Five regular weeks to go. A possible 30 dates. Add in postseason possibilities and the weeks increase to eight, the dates 48. Last week the weather did me no favors. If there is a silver lining it is that the rescheduled Friday/Saturday games will fall on off days like Mondays/Wednesdays, traditionally thin dates. It seems that the 100 quest will a challenge to achieve. The upcoming week will provide two dates with multiple games. In fact, Monday I am due to chart four games—the exact same amount as week 9.

Level

Seen

%

1-10

10

100.00

1-25

23

92.00

1-50

41

82.00

1-75

60

80.00

1-100

74

74.00

1-125

87

69.60

1-150

93

62.00

1-175

101

57.7

SEEDING THE STATE

A new addition to the AAAA field.
