EDINA 64, CHAMPLIN PARK 50<\/strong><\/p>\n

Edina scored six straight points in the space of a minute to break open a tight game in the second half for a road win against Champlin Park. The Hornets held a 45-42 advantage with 9:30 left in the contest. That jolt made it 51-42 and the Lake Conference visitor maintained that margin down the stretch.<\/p>\n

This game featured two players that are going to D2 schools: Ella Campbell of Edina—headed to Concordia St. Paul; and Mikaelah Counce of CP headed to Livingstone, a North Carolina based university in the CIAA conference. Just as Monday\u2019s game featured a player that struggled with the pp100, so did these two. Campbell checked in with a 69.7 pp100, Counce 62.5. Both shot in the 20s in the 2 range, most around the rim. Counce had 15 points on the night but needed 22 shots to get there. Campbell\u00a0 had 9 points on 15 shots. As has been the case early this year, players are not finishing with contact in traffic. This can be traced to balance issues. For the game CP was 32% near the rim. In most categories the teams were even. But the Hornets did make the Rebels pay at the line going 14\/15 for 93.3%. That is one more made than CP attempted (they hit 69.2%). Edina was more effective from the floor at 85.5 pp100, while the hosts were under 70 at 67.6.<\/p>\n

One player that delivered solid numbers, and hence the TRENCH PLAYER of the game was Edina senior Dorothy Stotts who had a game high 21 points (she was the only Edina player in double digits, with a pair checking in at nine); a 116.7 pp100 with a 5\/8 mark at the 3 line, & a 36 score in the 31 Club—the only player from either team to make that mark. She added value with 11 d stops. Stotts hit five 3s on the night. The first tied the game at 11; her second gave Edina a 20-17 lead, number three gave the Hornets the lead at 32-30, another 3 gave the visitors a six point cushion at 43-37, and her last 3 provided them a double digit advantage 54-44.<\/p>\n

On a side note: an official from Monday’s game (in a two person group) was working last night’s game with two different partners. Who is stalking who is the question. Our paths won’t cross again this week apparently.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
