Today it was Central’s moment as they flipped an earlier loss to the Cougars with a 4-3 win at home. On March 30 Como Park prevailed 6-1. Today Central swept the doubles and added a first singles win by Zadie for the win. Zadie was not present in the first contest. Doubles proved to be the most competitive with the only three set matches of the day. The score was tied at 2 apiece with the first three singles and first doubles in the book. The deciding match would be at third doubles. Mai Shia and Fardosa needed to take the last two sets for the Minuteman victory. The final set was decided by the narrowest margin—two points. A flip of those two points and CP would have enjoyed the victory.

SINGLES
1. Zadie, C def Xee Lee 21-6, 21-10
2. As has been true all week, a strong side out game plus scoring winners when serving proved to be the separators. Zadie did not allow Xee Lee any runs today. Lee only scored four times on her serve, with Zadie ringing up 27. The odd stroke winners replicated that at a plus twelve advantage (13-1) for Zadie. Zadie’s favorite scoring winner today was the smash—eight times, the same amount of total winners for Lee. Even though the match appeared lopsided, the stroke count showed long rallies. Half the points today lasted five strokes or longer. This category also belonged to Zadie 20-9.

Zadie notched runs on her first two serves. The coup de gras was a seven point run that made it 18-5. Six of those points were winners, three of those were smashes. Again the stroke counts in that run indicated contentious points—14, 11, 7 and another 7. It was a two stroke soft drive that finished the set however.

It was déjà vu all over again in the second set with Zadie duplicating that 6-0 lead and scoring runs on her first two services. The final score was less than the total required. There was a mix up/confusion on point that was deep. Lee was not able to call it (since it was behind her). There was a conversation at the net and Zadie continued with her service. The day ended with a net serve.

Category

ZADIE

XEE
