This week a few conferences wrap up play. The following week the two city conferences hold their individual tournaments. Then it will be team and individual. Tentatively the finals for both team & individual will be at Edina High School. Wednesday, May 17 for team; Thursday May 18 for individual.

There are a few additions this week—doubles career win totals (but just for the past two years) and coaching longevity and career wins. A word about the coaching lists. So far I have worked off the Saint Paul athletic website that John Vosejpka started. Not all matches have been recorded from the early years. Starting in 2004 the non conference and post season won loss has been added. There are some years prior to that that the conference records are non-existent.

Minneapolis is the next target. According to their website records (collected by Jeff Bustza) badminton started as an interscholastic sport in the spring of 1970. This was all before Title IX. The only school with a complete record that year was Minneapolis West (a school that does not exist anymore) with a record of 6-2. Their mascot? Cowboys. Their colors? Green & White.

PLAYER CAREER WINS

If these numbers are incorrect or incomplete (or if you have records going back deeper) send me the documentation and I will correct it. Send information to kja8067@gmail.com

Right now, this is for the years 2021, 2022. Nothing happened in the virus year of 2020. Cut off currently is 25 career wins. At this point all wins at singles (first, second, third and fourth) are counted, and doubles (first, second and third). At some stage we can narrow it to the respective flight. Some doubles players currently playing are listed. This does not include the 2023 season. That will be added once the season is over.

This will be an ongoing project with continual additions and adjustments.

SINGLES CAREER WIN LEADERS

Rank, Name, School, (grad) wins

Haneul Jeong-McDonnel, Highland Park (2022) 39

Cinderella Nwe, Washington (2022) 37

Rain Htoo, Washington (2022) 35

Yeng Lai Thao, Johnson (2022) 27

Song Yang, Johnson (2021) 25

DOUBLES CAREER WIN LEADERS

Rank, Name, School, (grad) wins

Cho Cho Oo, Washington 34

Dun Htoo, Washington 32

Birdy Xiong, Johnson 29

Ashley Her, Johnson 28

Abby Briese, Burnsville 26

Corrina Benson, Burnsville 26

COACHING RECORDS

CAREER WINS

This is just the St. Paul coaches listed so far.
