Even though I was early I was late. When the first match was over it was 4:02.

I entered in the middle of the first set….maybe. Maybe it was the middle of the second set. Here is the thing…the scores did not match the final results. I charted a 21-18 and 23-19 match. Yes 23-19. Does that mean I was charting third singles? Maybe. I don’t know.

What was evident was a close match as all four singles went the distance. Community of Peace had the advantage in tight games winning the tight points (3 or less) 5-1. But they may have won that battle, but HCPA won the war.

COPA also won the only doubles match played. The Tigers don’t have a second or third doubles team….yet.

Both these teams won their openers on Monday. This was the second EMAC game for HCPA. They beat Hiawatha Collegiate on Monday. COPA beat Prairie Seeds, technically not part of the EMAC, but of a similar school size.

I can tell you that in the game I charted the HCPA had 21 winners to COPA’s 15. In the first set I watched there were 14 two stroke points out of the 29 points, about half total. In the second set I charted there were 22 two stroke points out of 42. So, the serve/receive game was a central focus.

As a result of my late arrival I am not adding the individual breakdown. I hope to be on time for the next match.

SINGLES
1. Cody Thao, HCPA def Jenny 21-18, 25-27, 21-17
2.
