WASHBURN 7, SOUTHWEST 0<\/strong><\/p>\n

The only game in town on Monday was at Washburn and it was Miller time as they sunk the neighoring Lakers in a sweep. The Lakers were only able to reach double digits in three of the twelve sets. Washburn had scoring percentages north of .700 all match. The Lakers were shorthanded with six players unavailable. Washburn picked up a forfeit win at fourth singles as a result.<\/p>\n

Washburn\u2019s McKinley Helland moved to 2-0 on the young season with a quick sweep of Southwest\u2019s Carla. Helland has yet to lose a set this season. Carla last week was the third singles. The second set only four minutes and twenty seconds to wrap up.<\/p>\n

It didn\u2019t start that way. Carla opened the first set with an ace and then a hitting error by Helland put her in the hole 2-0. Four straight points quickly got her out of that predicament as she had five runs out of her six services in that set. She had two monster runs in the second set opening with eight straight and closing with twelve.<\/p>\n

Helland had a triple double in winners with eleven drives and ten each in drops and smashes. 68% of Helland\u2019s winners landed on the right side of the court.
