Two classes could not get to 50. AAA won the day production-wise almost 15 points higher than second place AA. But AAA only had one game on its ledger. AAAA was hampered by three teams unable to get to 50. Half the A listing could not get to 50. Take out the five ranked teams in action yesterday and the rate falls even deeper to 46.61. Numbers should NOT be this low again.

SECTION RESULTS

Zowie. Right off the top we have a stunner in AAAA. #7 seed in 5AAAA Irondale won their fifth game of the season. The victim was the #2 seed, and sister district school Mounds View. The Knights opened the 2024-25 campaign steamrolled by the Mustangs in running time 67-27. Round two wasn’t that much different 68-35. That is an improvement on the defensive side of the ledger by 34/35 points in round three.

That wasn’t the only head scratcher in 5AAAA. #6 Park Center won their sixth game of the season. Twelve days ago, the Spring Lake Park Panthers pounced on the Pirates 65-48. PC turned the tide Tuesday shaving off 17 points defensively and adding ten on their offensive side. That means the four remaining teams in 5AAAA are Maple Grove, Osseo, PC (all three 279 schools) and Irondale. Osseo+PC+Irondale have a total of 20 wins (11+6+5). MG has 24. Here are the spreads in the previous games with MG against Osseo 39 : PC 42: The Crimson has not faced the Knights. #1 MG’s wake up call came in their last game—a two point win over Blaine.

The rest of the night went according to seed for the other sections.

The tightest game came in 3A North with #2 MACCRAY edging out #3 Minneota 63-62 on a pair of free throws by 6-1 junior Brielle Janssen on her way to a day’s high 36 points.

AAAA

5

#4 Osseo 60, #5 Champlin Park 57

#6 Park Center 58, #3 Spring Lake Park 48

#7 Irondale 36, #2 Mounds View 33

AAA

5

#8 Zimmerman 71, #9 Big Lake 59

AA

1

#2 Dover-Eyota 55, #7 Plainview-Elgin-Millville 46

#3 Rochester Lourdes 61, #6 Lake City 40

3N

#1 New London-Spicer 72, #5 Morris/Chokio-Alberta 27

#2 Minnewaska 59, #3 Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg 32

3S

#1 Jackson County Central 72, #4 Redwood Valley 56

#2 Fairmont 70, #6 Pipestone 49

4

#11 St. Paul Academy 61, #14 St. Paul Humboldt 12

#12 Twin City Academy 43, #13 Math & Science 17

5

#12 Howard Lake-Waverly-Winsted 65, #13 Metro Schools College Prep 37

7

#1 Crosby-Ironton 114, #16 Greenway 25

#2 Proctor 88, #15 Hinckley-Finlayson 34

#3 Duluth Marshall 95, #14 Staples-Motley 37

#4 Pequot Lakes 67, #13 Pillager 23

#5 Mesabi East 50, #12 Pierz 40

#6 Barnum 67, #11 International Falls 56

#7 Aitkin 70, #10 Moose Lake-Willow River 55

#8 Esko 51, #9 Two Harbors 31

A

1

#2 Spring Grove 65, #7 Lanesboro 57

#3 Grand Meadow 60, #6 Houston 25

3N

#1 Central MN Christian 55, #4 Lakeview 33

#2 MACCRAY 63, #3 Minneota 62

3S

#1 Hills-Beaver Creek 48, #4 Westbrook-Walnut Grove 35

#2 Adrian/Ellsworth 57, #3 Southwest MN Christian 47

4

#10 Heritage Christian 65, #15 Lincoln International 4

#11 Hope Academy 65, #14 Higher Ground 30

#12 Trinity 55, #13 North Lakes 12

5E

#8 East Central 67, #9 St. John’s Prep 40

5W

#8 Verndale 39, #9 Laporte 30

MILESTONES

Senior Madelyn Luft of KMS got to 1000 points in her last game of her career in the loss to Minnewaska.

DAY AHEAD

Thanks to sections, this Wednesday is much busier than usual with 47 games.
