Willmar senior Telilie Lange reached the 1000 point mark with 20 in a 79-12 win over St. Cloud.<\/p>\n

ABOUT LAST NIGHT\u2026..RICHFIELD V JORDAN<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n

The undefeated Richfield Spartans, refused to lose, and found a way to keep their winning streak rolling despite having two starters fouled out and trailing by seven with 0:45 left in the second overtime in the 69-68 miracle comeback win over the visiting Jordan Jaguars. Heroine for the day was Iona MacNabb who ended up with 33 points. It was her steal and lay up with 8.4 seconds left put an exclamation point on the win.<\/p>\n

Both teams mounted comebacks and rallies. Richfield nursed a 22-20 lead at the break. Their biggest lead came at 29-24 early in the second half. Jordan finally put together the first string for either team\u00a0 starting on their eleventgh possession of the second half scoring four straight times and they inched forward 31-30. Simultaneously Richfield ignited their own string of three. The long ball was important all night to the hosts as they delivered ten 3s to five for their guests. Nora Finley, off the bench knocked down three 3s for the night including one that tied it at 34. With 6:45 left in the second half Jordan pushed their margin to 46-39 after another run of four. The Spartans point guard Samira Peters was accumulating fouls however. She was one of three home teamers that had four fouls. Richfield, thanks to a 3 by Imelda Amedzonekou (another with four fouls), went back in front 51-50 with 2:50 remaining. Richfield was up 53-50 with 35.9 ticks left when Peters fouled out. The foul came on a second chance put back attempt by Jordan. They made the first free throw, missed the second, but got the offensive board. The Jags overwhelmed Richfield 19-9 on the offensive glass for the night. They missed the put back this time, but not the third and the game was now tied at 53. That is how regulation ended.<\/p>\n

Richfield struck first in the first overtime with Amedzonekou\u2019s put back basket. A drive by Morgan Staloch tied it. With 22.3 seconds left Jordan Staloch converted a pair of free throws giving the Jags a 59-57 lead. She was fouled by Amedzonekou who now joined Peters on the bench. Hayes found a gap near the left elbow and the Spartans added another four minutes with a second overtime.<\/p>\n

The Staloch sisters scored on the first two second overtime possessions. It looked like a dagger 3 by Reese Dahmen would seal the win for Jordan pushing their lead to 66-60 with about 1:40 remaining. Hayes was fouled at the 1:23 mark and added one to Richfield\u2019s cause. Another put back by Morgan Staloch gave the Jags 68-61 lead with under a minute to go. MacNabb struck her fifth three with 38.6 seconds left and the Spartans down 68-64. Jordan missed a pair of free throws. Finley hit her third 3 from up top on the left and now it was a heart palpitating 68-67 lead for Jordan with Richfield immediately calling time at 19.3. The back court pressure broke Jordan as MacNabb made a steal on the fifth pass they attempted. The resulting lay up with 8.4 seconds left finished the scoring. Jordan did have a decent shot inside, but failed to connect and Richfield had a chance to celebrate a comeback to remember.<\/p>\n

The first half was not artistic and did not live up to the drama of the second. Richfield\u2019s pp100 was 57.9 and Jordan\u2019s only 51.3 for a low bar for improvement. Looking second half and overtime Jordan improved to 100 with Richfield even better at 102.2. With the added pressure of overtime Jordan\u2019s numbers fell to 88.2 while Richfield still hit the century mark at 100.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n

Iona MacNabb was the heart and soul for Richfield. She knocked down five 3s on the night, finishing with 33 points, none more critical than the steal and lay up that locked in the victory. She made the 41 Club with 49 also leading the Spartans with 14 d stops. She also was golden (just the steal lay up solidified that) with a 126.9 pp100. Joining her in the 31 Club was Zuri Hayes right on the nose with 31. Hayes had nine distributions on the night.<\/p>\n

Jordan\u2019s Morgan Staloch, who is headed to St. Thomas next season, only had one point at the break. She erupted for 20 more in the second half and overtime which helped propel her to the 41 Club with a 44. Her pp100 was 95.5, a vast improvement on the 17 she had in the first half.<\/p>\n

Where does this put Richfield in brutal section 6AAA? At this point it looks like fourth seed is the best hope. #1 Benilde-St. Margaret\u2019s, Orono and Delano all should be seeded higher. The Spartans await two Tri-Metro Conference games with DeLaSalle and neighboring Holy Angels in 2026. Both should be competitive contests. Jordan looks to be the second seed in 2AAA. They have moved up from 5AA.<\/p>\n

Richfield moves to 6-0 on the year and is #21 overall in the QRF. Jordan falls to 5-2 and is #34 in the QRF.<\/p>\n
