As a result, the clarity of seeding teams in the state tournament is still muddy. #10 Burnsville opened with a 5-2 win over #11 Kennedy. The Eagles then had their own 5-2 win over #9 Edina. The Hornets completed the circle with a 4-3 win over the hosts. That left all three teams with a 1-1 record. What is a ranker to do? The next level I would look at is the matches won for the day: Burnsville 8, Kennedy 7, Edina 6. Using that standard the hosts were the “winners” for the day. Needless to say all three teams are bunched still and there were some things each team can take some joy in, but no one left overjoyed.

BURNSVILLE 5, KENNEDY 2

The Blaze swept the doubles and squeezed out two three set wins at second and third singles.
