The Polars were shorthanded with their players today and could only field three varsity level flights (first singles, first & second doubles). North had two others play JV singles. Edison won two of the matches and Trinity, after falling to Kennedy yesterday in a sweep, picked up their first set wins and first match win. This was Edison’s first matches of the year. Trinity is now 1-2; North is 0-3.

Checking on the action, the most competitive matches occurred on the doubles side. All three teams could claim some margin benefit.

The format for this triangular was a tad different than most. There was cross fertilization of the matches with each program playing right away depending on the court availability. There were five varsity courts and four JV courts. The center or third court featured the first singles match which began with the hosts and Trinity. Edison and North or Edison and Trinity were battling right alongside, so the event had every team playing in a checkerboard pattern.

This was my second triangular this week. I have now charted eight of the 24 teams (33%). 16 more to chart.

EDISON 7, NORTH 0

In an abbreviated match, the Tommies went extra points in the first set at both first and second doubles to beat the Polars.
