The Patriots’ third doubles team prevented the sweep. The Hawks overwhelmed Henry on the singles side of the ledger holding the Patriots to single digits in six of the eight sets. That third doubles match was the only contest to have sets decided by two points with the identical 21-19 scores in both. Humboldt’s second and third singles margins proved to have the most separation at 16.5 points.

I am now down to four teams left to chart. Lay slammed the door at 75%. Lay also had big advantages in winners while limiting her give aways. The soft drive proved to be most lethal with eight winners via that route. Five of those came on the two stroke. The opponent’s left front court provided Lay with eight of her winners. Lay was able to score three points on her block of Moua’s smashes including two straight points in the second set.

Moua had the first run of the game taking a 3-2 lead in the first set. Lay surged in front with a mega run of seven (10-4) initiated with two straight drops. Two serves later Lay tacked on six more points (17-6). In set two Lay opened with the first three points. Both players got in side out mode with five of the next services being stopped by the other. Lay broke the pattern with a run of five (12-4). Lay’s final run of three gave her the widest margin in the second half (17-6) capped by the two blocks. Moua got her first run of the second set after a two stroke smash (20-11) holding off match point three times.

Category

LAY

MOUA

Side out

12/16-.750

6/16-.375

3+ Runs

5

2

Longest point string

7

3

Service points

25

6

Serving %

38/40-.950

22/22-1.000

Point generated off serve

.595

.300

Overall points

42

20

Points after 11

20

11

Points after own errors

8

7

Strokes

152

70

Strokes per point

3.619

3.500

5+ rallies

8(.190)

6(.300)

2- rallies

15(.357)

9(.450)

WINNERS

25

10

Aces

3

1

Blocks

3

0

Clears

2

3

Drives

3

1

Drops

4

1

Soft drives

8

2

Smashes

2

2

ERRORS

10

17

Deep

1

0

Net

6

5

Wide

1

12

Serve

2

0

WINNER LOCATION

Back line

4(.160)

4(.400)

Middle

6(.240)

3(.300)

Front line

15(.600)

3(.300)

Left

14(.560)

6(.600)

Right

11(.440)

4(.400)

W:E Ratio

2.500

0.588

Margin

11.00

Set Point %

2/5-.400

Time

12:50.55

ST.
