Visiting Washburn beat a North Polar team, but not the conference rival. The Millers traveled to North St. Paul to pick up the win. The Millers scored on their first possession. NSP did have a 7-5 lead, but the offensive tide shifted away and the Polars had problems attempting shots. They only had 37 combined shots (2s & 3s) all night; Washburn had 55. The Millers got a jolt of offense off the bench from Naomi York. After five minutes had passed in the second half York had more points than NSP (14-13). A key stat is getting the ball in the paint (or in the olden days “key”). Washburn won that battle 51-33, close to the final score. Neither team was able to get above 70 pp100.

Last year I saw these two teams on the second Saturday in January (but not against each other).

Washburn is now 3-6 on the year.
