The Beacons, with the one two punch of Ivane Tensaie and Lydia Lecher, made the Stars see stars in the second half. Lecher came to life in the second half with 15 of her 19 points. Tensaie was the tent pole in the first half with 21 of her points thanks in part to five of her seven 3s. That helped the hosts to a 28-27 lead. The Stars star tonight was Lily Schwen who matched her uniform number with 30 points. She also was a member of the 41 Club by one extra point. After Schwen’s steal and lay up tied the score for SWC at 34 with 15 minutes left, CA went on an 11-3 run over the course of the next three minutes to create enough cushion for the victory. Lecher delivered six of her points in that run. CA did have to play without Tensaie for 2 and a half minutes. Tensaie was poked in the eye apparently on a foul with 8 minutes left in the game & the Beacons up ten 51-41. When she returned CA had added to their margin to 14 (55-41). SWC had one last surge with a 12-4 run (59-53) but with 34 seconds left it was an uphill battle. CA shut SWC down the last seconds while adding free throws to their final margin.

Tent pole players are players that do the majority of the
scoring. This week Frannie Hottinger led Cretin-Derham Hall with 51 points in a
101-93 loss to Stillwater. Hottinger’s scoring was 54.8% of the Raider total. Tonight,
Schwen had 56.6% of the Stars’ total. In Monday’s game Gianna Kneepkens of
Duluth Marshall had 57.8% of the Hilltoppers total points. In all three cases
these teams lost despite the strong efforts of a single player. Kneepkens had Grace
Kirk, but the rest of the DM squad didn’t provide much help. CDH did get to 93,
but could not prevent the Ponies from getting triple digits. After Schwen’s 30
the drop went down to 9 points. It should also be pointed out that the Beacons
balance was between two players. The rest of the squad came up with 14 points,
the same as the Stars.

This was not my planned game today. With yesterday’s snow
emergency with all the shut down of games, it threw my AAAA battle plan out the
window. Osseo was supposed to have been charted on Wednesday. Jefferson
tonight. Neither are top candidates. I then had to make a decision since both
Osseo and Jefferson played tonight. See one or the other. I opted for the
highest remaining team in the top 100—Concordia. I am tired of the snow. But
what I am more exhausted with is the process where Minnesota is becoming
Georgia. I am tired of decision being made by Atlanta. I am tired of Minnesota
not being as tough as I remember it. It is going to snow in Minnesota. Get used
to it. In Atlanta 7 inches of snow is called Snowmageddon. In Minnesota it is
called Wednesday. Life can not grind to a halt every time a snowflake hits the
highway. It is time to toughen up and live like true Minnesotans.

 CONCORDIA ACADEMY

 SOUTHWEST CHRISTIAN

 POINTS

 62

 53

 REBOUNDS/OFF

 39/9

 35/11

 TURNOVERS

 15

 13

 FTA/%

 18/50.00

 16/50.00

 2FG%/3FG%

 57.14/30.43

 40.54/25.0

 PP100

 92.5

 81.5

 TOP SCORER

 Ivane Tensaie 29

 Lily Schwen 30

TRENCH PLAYER: 5-7 sophomore point guard Ivane Tensaie with 29 points, 116.0 pp100 and a 38 score in the 31 Club.

CONCORDIA ACADEMY 62, SOUTHWEST CHRISTIAN CHASKA 53 Concordia Academy topped SW Christian of Chaska 62-53 on

[138,7,153
CONCORDIA ACADEMY 82, FRIDLEY 51 Concordia nearly reached running time in a 82-51 Tri-Metro Conference match up, but the game was not nearly the blow out it appeared.
