Usually the pattern per grade was two A levels, four B levels, and two C levels. We now have boldly gone down to 3rd grade and crowning champions. When do the 2nd graders get their chance? (he said sarcastically).

Now the peak grade seems to be 6th with nine levels. Each grade above lost a level. It used to be 7th grade with the most. In fact there used to be a 9th grade division. Not anymore.

So what programs are destined to be around all the way to 2028. Notice I said Way. Wayzata had three of the six state champs (at the highest level. They also were in the top four twice for an overwhelming strong pipeline. The only “miss” came in 7th grade where they went 1-2. Wayzata won in 8, 4 and 3, top four in 6 and 5 (and again in 3). Elk River won 7 and finished in top four in 8 and 3. Eden Prairie was a top four team in 8 and 6. No other programs had more than two grade levels produce. This has been a pretty metrocentric event. Only Stewartville in 3rd grade cracked the top four in any grade (at the A1 Level—that is what is being measured here).

Champs

8: Wayzata 46, Edina 25

7: Elk River 48, Armstrong/Cooper 39

6: Champlin Park 36, MLK 29

5: Farview, MPLS 46, Roseville 42

4: Wayzata 40 , Farmington 12

3: Wayzata 34, Stewartville 13

Here is the link to all the different tournaments and their winners.

Usually I go chart the championship game in 8th grade. Not this year. Why? My grad class had a 15 page paper due. That took priority.

No I am not talking about the next two weeks.
