{"id":14167,"date":"2019-05-12T20:35:15","date_gmt":"2019-05-13T01:35:15","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/kjasr.com\/live\/?p=14167"},"modified":"2019-05-12T20:43:41","modified_gmt":"2019-05-13T01:43:41","slug":"mn-state-aau-tournament-streaks-started-stopped","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/kjasr.com\/live\/?p=14167","title":{"rendered":"MN STATE AAU TOURNAMENT, STREAKS STARTED &#038; STOPPED"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>History was made today with MN Fury, who had won four state <!--more-->tournaments in their existence, came up with four straight championships from the 2023 class to the 2020 class to double their first place trophies to eight.<\/p>\n<p>On the flip side of this historic day it was the first time North Tartan has not taken home first place hardware since\u2026\u2026we are not officially sure, but my records start clean in 2006. So at least since 2006 or 13 years. It could be longer than that. Prior to that the records begins in 1990 and is spotty throughout the 90s and early 2000s. In 1990 NT had two champions for example. Every year I have records, NT had a title. I am missing 1994, 1996, and 1999-2005. My guess is NT won at least one in those years. They probably won in 1989 too (and early). I just don&#8217;t have the documents.\u00a0 At the least it is an 13 consecutive year string broken. It could be as long as 30 consecutive years.<\/p>\n<p>Here is the titles by <a href=\"http:\/\/kjasr.com\/live\/?p=893\">Year (calendar)<\/a> and by <a href=\"http:\/\/kjasr.com\/live\/?p=895#more-895\">class (grad year)<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Here are the 2019 results<\/p>\n<p>4: 43 Hoops 2027 45, North Tartan 4 Kueneman 27<br \/>\n5: Tayler Hill Elite 2026 39, North Tartan 5 Kuppe 19<br \/>\n6: MN Stars 6 Borowicz 53, North Tartan 6 Monahan 45<br \/>\n7: Tayler Hill Elite 2024 34, North Tartan 7 Ohnstad 30<br \/>\n8: MN Fury 2023 UAA 50, MN Stars Hersch 38<br \/>\n9: MN Fury 2022 UAA 61, North Tartan 9 Elite 50<br \/>\n10: MN Fury 2021 UAA 56, North Tartan 16u EYBL 52<br \/>\n11: MN Fury 2020 UAA 58, North Tartan 17u EYBL 44<\/p>\n<p>We talked about the 57% solution last weekend. True to form it came to fruition again with four different champions this week in grades 10, 9, 7, and 5. There were four rematches from a week ago with a split. The same winner came in 11 &amp; 6, the runner up last week adjusted and moved to the top in 9 and 5. Two #3 seeds, left for dead last weekend, came back to ride the wave in 10 &amp; 7.<\/p>\n<p>There were three new match ups today with the previously stated 10 &amp; 7 along with 8.<\/p>\n<p><strong>As far as repeat champions here is the list:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Tayler Hill Elite 2026 two time champ 4 &amp; 5<br \/>\nTayler Hill Elite 2024 three-peat 7, 6, 5&#8212;-the longest string going now<br \/>\nMN Fury 2023 8,7<\/p>\n<p><strong>Returning after a one year absence:<\/strong><br \/>\nMN Stars 6 Borowicz beating the team that snatched it from them last year North Tartan 6 Monahan.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Getting over the hump<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>MN Fury 2022 (9) beating North Tartan 9 Elite\/Conteras after finishing second to them in 2018<br \/>\nMN Fury 2020 (11) beating North Tartan EYBL after finishing second to them in 2016, 2017 and 2018<\/p>\n<p><strong>This also halted a couple of interesting individual championship records.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Paige Bueckers won titles in 4<sup>th<\/sup> grade (with a 5<sup>th<\/sup> grade team MN Thunder); and then in grades 5-10 with North Tartan&#8212;-seven straight. She would have been the first for eight straight, and would have been perfect doing so. The only player with seven straight titles and, perfect at it, is&#8212;&#8212;Maesyn Theisen with North Tartan from 5 to 11. (2011 to 2017).
