Why does a team fail?

Pace is a big factor in games. Teams can go fast, press, helter-skelter or slow, deliberate, measured. It is the age old battle of the tortoise and the hare. Perhaps this is because they have five AAAA schools to the one (Cambridge-Isanti) in the AAA heavy Mississippi 8 now that Buffalo, Rogers and St. Michael-Albertville left. The difference between the MW and the M8 is slight—about four points, but the gap between the M8 (again a heavy AAA conference) and 7AAA is huge—-about 14 points. Three of the M8 teams are also part of the 7AAA landscape. Subtracting the M8 influence the 7AAA numbers plummet even lower to 51.32. The three M8 contributors, by themselves in 7AAA are at 82.27, better than any of the three totals above.

Who is next? There are still some missing pieces to the puzzle here and there. With mega conferences the task becomes more complex. It looks like week 11 will get the required teams crossed off any list. But February should start to see more fall. And when they do it will be rapid.

QUEST FOR 100

20 teams to go. February and March to go. A possible 24 dates.
