The Redhawks utilized the long ball effectively in a 35-4 avalanche the last nine minutes of the first half. This was a combination between two items: Mia Curtis and her laser focus on 3s, and the foul troubles by North’s Alex McNeill. The Polars were on top early 7-2 forcing a MA timeout after three minutes of action. That snapped the Redhawks back with the next three possessions resulting in scores including the first of a nine 3s by Mia Curtis. Curtis tied a school record for 3s in one game. The Redhawks nailed a lucky 13 for the game. North battled back behind the efforts of Alex McNeill who gave North their last lead at 20-18 with close to nine minutes left in the first half. McNeill had 12 of her team high 23 points (also her uniform number) in this early stage. But McNeill also picked up a pair of quick fouls. It was foul number three that put her on the bench, and that came with 5:03 left in the first half. By that time the Polar lead had melted just like the ice caps due to global warming. The game was slipping away for North 29-22. With McNeill on the pine the slippage became an avalanche for the Redhawks. Curtis connected on six 3s in the last five minutes to explode the game wide open. At the break Curtis had 26 points. McNeill reappeared at the start of the second half and hit one of her three 3s, but she did not have a lot of support. The rest of the team delivered 18 points, made only one free throw (to McNeill’s four), and had a pp100 of 36.7. The MA starters had 73 of the 84 points.

MINNEHAHA

MINNEAPOLIS NORTH

POINTS

84

41

REBOUNDS/OFF

38/15

45/24

TURNOVERS

11

25

2FGA/%

29/62.06

45/26.66

3FGA/%

35/37.14

18/22.22

FTA/%

16/56.25

11/45.45

PP100

120.0

58.6

TOP SCORER

Mia Curtis 32

Alex McNeill 23

TRENCH PLAYER: Mia Curtis with 32 points 145.5 pp100, and a 44 in the 31 Club.

MINNEHAHA 84, MINNEAPOLIS NORTH 41 Minnehaha put running time on visiting North Wednesday night 84-41 in a private vs

[138,7,153
MINNEHAHA 57, BLAKE 49 Five loomed large in Wednesday night’s IMAC Conference match up with a bookend quality. #5 Mia Curtis of Minnehaha and the Redhawks outlasted #5 Addison Mack and the Blake Bears at home.
