The Blaze hosted Edina & Highland Park on Wednesday with the Hornets taking two wins, the Scots one. Burnsville was shut out.<\/p>\n

The day feature three of the top singles players around. In that case #1 Phlower Vang of Highland Park won twice, but the second win came after Burnsville’s Jasmine Tran injured her knee after the first point in the second set resulting in an injury forfeit. Tran had picked up the first set victory. Tenzin Tsephel of Edina beat Tran in two sets to open the day. Then Vang did the same two setter for the win over Tsephel.<\/p>\n

Edina won six matches in the first contest with Burnsville’s Isabel prevented the sweep with a three set win at fourth singles, the last set going to extra points 22-20.<\/p>\n

The Edina\/Highland team match was the tightest of the three. The two split at singles, with Edina taking two and three; and the Hornets taking the odd doubles. Alice Verbrugge and Violet Solem Valentine edged out Juman Alkhatib and Bergen Pickett in three sets with the final set going to extra points. Also going to extra points was Aarushi Bhatnager, Edina’s third singles in the first set win over Houahna Yang by the same 23-21 score. HP’s Nica Johnson won in three sets continuing the rivalry with Claire Watz that started at the Edina Invitational.<\/p>\n

Burnsville not only suffered an injury with Jasmine Tran, but had to forfeit at third doubles to the Scots due to an ankle roll. Houahna Yang won at third singles in three sets for the longest match in the contest.<\/p>\n
