They doubled up St. Paul Harding, a 3A school they beat last year by four. Thursday the Valor won 52-26. The pp100s in this game were 66.7-33.8. Avail starters shot 48.7 from 2s and their pp100 was 78.3. 32 offensive rebounds helped Valor’s cause. Only seven free throws were attempted in this game.

Samia Gomez led the Knights with a game high 16 points taking 31 shots. Ruth Peterson led Avail with 10.

Since I coach volleyball at Avail this was an easy segway into the season and I caught up on my players and their winter sports. Tuesday, I saw two more of my volleyball players play hockey with Mounds View-Irondale. It was strange not having a computer or notebook and watching that game. Of course, the computer may have froze up in that environment, not to mention a pen and paper.

IN OTHER ACTION

#3AAAA Maple Grove traveled to #5AAAA Eden Prairie and edged the Eagles 77-73 in the marquee matchup that lived up to the pregame hype. Tori Schlagel won the point scoring battle with Jordan Ode 28-27, but the Crimson prevailed.

Home cooking? There is no place like home? Visitors, like MG, grabbed some big road wins on opening day with home court advantages vanishing.

Wayzata more than doubled up #8AAA New Ulm 88-43.

#9AAA Rock Ridge topped Esko 82-48.

#2AA Minnehaha more than doubled up Andover 83-41.

#4AA Duluth Marshall scored the most points on the night with their 94-34 victory at Two Harbors.

#8AA Jordan topped Minneapolis North 44-40 in the home of the Polars.

Home teams that enjoyed home cooking.

#3AAA Stewartville stifled Mankato East 67-15. Audrey Shindelar outscored the Cougars with 24 points (just missing the parade).

The stingiest defense of the day was Littlefork-Big Falls in their 52-9 win over Silver Bay.

TODAY

There are 67 contests on tap today.

The Dover-Eyota Tournament wraps up today with the hosts taking on Rochester JM in the title match up.

Wabasso and Sleepy Eye St. Mary’s begin their events. Wabasso has six teams so it is more like a scheduled event while SESM’s has four teams.

Alexandria travels to Marshall. The Cardinals won the state volleyball tournament two weeks ago over the Tigers.

[10,7
Recap of MN GBB action from Wednesday 2.19.2025 D1 HIGH FIVE Paige Bueckers, UConn, Hopkins 23 Sophie Hart, Minnesota, Farmington 22 Callin Hake, Nebraska, Chanhassen 17 Lauren Jensen, Creighton, Lakeville North 16 Paige Kindseth, Presbyterian, Farmington 16 Totals: 94 For the third straight day D1 had the courts to themselves…
Here are the 2023-24 AAAA All State Team Class AAAA All-State Liv McGill Hopkins Aaliyah Crump Minnetonka Jordan Ode Maple Grove Ja'Kahla Craft St. Michael-Albertville Tori McKinney Minnetonka Tori Schlagel Eden Prairie Kate Amelotte Wayzata Trinity Wilson Lakeville North Finley Ohnstad Lakeville South Amy Thompson Stillwater Class AAAA All-State Honorable…
Class AAAA All State Paige Bueckers- Hopkins Adalia McKenzie- Park Center Lauren Jensen- Lakeville North Maya Nnaji- Hopkins Jenna Johnson- Wayzata Mackenzie Kramer- St. Michael-Albertville Molly Mogensen- Farmington Sophie Hart-Farmington Abby Schulte- Maple Grove Annika Stewart- Wayzata Class AAAA All State Honorable Mention Alexis Pratt- Stillwater Mallory Heyer- Chaska Mallory Brake-…
AAAA All State Nia Holloway--Eden Prairie Maya Nnaji--Hopkins Mallory Heyer--Chaska Tessa Johnson--St. Michael-Albertville Mara Braun--Wayzata Maya Battle--Hopkins Amber Scalia--Stillwater Kiani Lockett--Minnetonka Taylor Woodson--Hopkins Lilly Meister--Rochester John Marshall AAAA Honorable Mention Molly Lenz--Eden Prairie Kennedy Sanders--Chaska Desiree Ware--Minnetonka Callin Hake--Chanhassen Aaliyah Crump--Minnetonka Lily Fandre--Eagan Lizzie Holder--Stillwater Selam Maher--St. Louis Park…
#1 Hopkins 98, Tartan 70 #2 Wayzata 90, #12AA Maranatha 48 #4 Roseville 64, Cretin-Derham Hall 48 #5 St. Michael-Albertville 71, Anoka 28 #6 Stillwater 59, #7 Forest Lake 52 Scalia's big night from behind the arc helps Stillwater down Suburban East foe Forest Lake -----MN GBB Hub #8 Farmington…
We start with the D1 High Five; Move to the HS Parade and Preview Tuesday action.
