Next would be D1 Power 5 Conference signings: either Big 10, Big 12, Southeast Conference, ACC, or Big East. Following that are milestones reached at 4000, 2000 and 1000 (no one made 3000) and a grand total of milestoners.

Clearly the AA has the most star power with three 4000 point scorers: Addi Mack of Minnehaha; Maddyn Greenway of Providence and Tori Oehrlein of Crosby-Ironton. With all three of them heading to major conferences that only enhances the shine. All three are on teams seeded 1-2-3. The likelihood of two of them meeting in the championship game is very high. Add in three more 2000s and that total reaches six….which is equal to all the other three classes combined.

Multiple Milestoners exist at three of the other four classes—exception is AAAA. Only four milestoners with one power 5 member—Jordan Ode of #1 seed Maple Grove.

Usually if a team has multiple milestoners they are more likely to be senior dominated. Alexandria has four, Rock Ridge has three and Benilde-St. Margaret’s has two in AAA. At the AA level Providence leads the way with three. Crosby-Ironton; Minnehaha; Sauk Centre; Minnewaska and Caledonia each have a pair. Class A listing includes Walker-Hackensack-Akeley and West Central each with three. Mayer Lutheran and EGF Sacred Heart have two (and both of EGF SH’s are sophs).

Teams that have had experience winning the state tournament in other sports this fall include Alexandria in AAA volleyball with Hadley Thul in that mix. Thul was all tournament. The Cardinals were the #5 seed in that tournament. They are the #5 seed in the GBB tournament. Marshall was the #2 seed and finished second in that event. The Tigers are #3 in GBB. Both teams are coached by Dan Westby. Reese Drake and Brook Gillingham made the VB all tournament list. Stewartville was the #3 seed in that event and are #8 in GBB. Monticello was #7 in VB and flipped it to #2 in GBB. Cretin-Derham Hall makes the fifth team to be part of both. The Raiders were #6 in VB, #7 in GBB.

Anoka is the only AAAA team to take part in both VB & GBB. In both situations they were the #7 seed.

AA has no double entries in volleyball. AA did have a champion in the soccer tournament: Providence. In both situations the Lions were #1. Maddyn Greenway was all tournament in that event.

Mayer Lutheran won the A VB tournament as the #1 seed. They are #2 in GBB. Three Crusaders made the All-Tournament list: Marley Martin, Izabelle Keaveny, and Clara Keaveny. West Central was the #4 seed in VB and they are #4 again in GBB. Mya Foslien was All-Tournament in VB.

Monday Reports 3.10.2025 plus a look at individuals in the state GBB tournament.
