ABOUT LAST NIGHT—–5 GAMES FROM BREAKDOWN ST. BEN\u2019S<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n

There were five games that were opened at the St. Benedict portion of the Dairy Queen Granite City Classic. Compared to the NBA Christmas day experience these gifts were a disappointment. They were more in line with the NFL lineup that same day. Only one team made it to the century level—#1AAAA Hopkins. Next was #9AAA Byron with a 98.6. #2AAAA Minnetonka was close with a 97.2. Only one game made it to the competitive level\/crunch time type of game—-Lakeville North\u2019s four point win over #3AA Duluth Marshall.<\/p>\n

Losing teams throughout the day struggled to get to 60 pp100. The best mark for a losing squad came in the last game with Becker getting 64.8.<\/p>\n

Injuries, or players returning from injuries impacted results. Madalyn Blaylark of DeLaSalle is back on the court in limited bursts. On the injury side of the ledger Jazmin Daing of Minnetonka was wearing a boot. LN\u2019s Lauren Robison was also unavailable for action.<\/p>\n

Earlier this year I wrote about the free throw numbers being a disappointment. In these five games the numbers were vastly better than the November out of the gate results. The marks yesterday were 64.51%, with Alexandria a perfect 10\/10.<\/p>\n

All games featured physical, pressing defenses. They made it through the holiday gap, the offenses, for the most part, did not. The only team to value the ball was LN with a 37.25 touch per turnover mark. Duluth Marshall was the only other team to be north of 20 touches per turnover. The Hopkins defense, as always, had the highest heat with Fargo Davies coughing the ball up every 10.93 touches.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

There were only five additions to the 31 Club (or 41 Club). Four of the winners provided members, with Chloe Johnson of Duluth Marshall the only non-winner among the quintet. Only three were golden with pp100s over 100. Lanelle Wright topped all with a 170 pp100 on the day.<\/p>\n
