The visiting Tigers had an atrocious first half that saw the hosts hold a convincing 35-14 lead. All sorts of things were off the rails for PRB in the first half. Braham demonstrated a higher level of physicality and effectively forced turnovers, resulting in the Tiger ball handlers frequently being directed toward the sidelines. Foul issues plagued PRB early on. Within the first two minutes Ella Brewer picked up two fouls and soon found herself on the bench. The bench was not kind to PRB. They were outscored on the night 11-2 in that category. When she left in at the 15:51 mark of the first half after Braham converted a pair of free throws it was 6-2. She wasn’t out long, but the rhythm was disrupted. The three point shooting, which looks like to be an important part of their offensive production sputtered in the first half as they went 1/16. Looking at the pp100 mark it was Braham dominating 92.1-37.8.

Halftime saw adjustments and an improved mark from PRB. They outscored the hosts 10-2 in the first three minutes of the second half and now trailed 37-24 forcing a Bomber timeout. Braham’s lead soon went back to 19, but fouls were starting to mount for them too and their most dynamic aggressive performer Morgan Rysdam picked up foul number four with 10 minutes to go and the Bombers up 49-33. She exited and the Tigers pounced with six straight scores on a 14-7 push. In that string PRB scored three 3s by three different Tigers. Braham had a three-possession string of their own at the tail end of that run that kept the margin no closer than 11. Two long distance bombs from Avery Shockman and Emily Davis gave Braham some breathing space and Rysdam’s return prevented any more PRB scoring strings.

Rysdam and Davis led Braham with 15 each. Ella Brewer led all scorers with 16.

Looking at other factors, the Bombers were more active on the glass with grabbing offensive rebounds at a 51.29% rate compared to PRB’s 33.33% rate. Also, Braham, despite being more physical, was at the free throw line way more often making 15 while PRB took less than half of that. That tells you PRB didn’t get to the rim very often. They took 54.55% of their shots from deep. Braham took attempted 23.81% from behind the line. PRB needed those 3s scoring 42.86% of their points that way. Braham not so much at 12.86%.

Team

Pt

PP100

OR/DR

FTM/a

2M/A

3M/A

TO/TOTO

Braham

70

92.1

21/24

15/27

23/48

3/15

20/18.90

Pine River-Backus

56

74.7

12/20

4/7

14/25

8/30

27/12.44

Rysdam of Braham was the sole 31 Club invitee, leading all players with 16 d stops. The Bombers are 10-3 with losses to AA powers Crosby-Ironton and Milaca along with A ranked Hillcrest Lutheran.

A side note….this was a late pick up for me.
