ROSEMOUNT 48, LAKEVILLE SOUTH 39<\/strong><\/p>\n

Rosemount won their first game of the year snapping a six game<\/p>\n

losing streak on the road in a rare Monday night South Suburban Conference contest at Lakeville South. The Irish opened the second half with four straight scores, but in reality the Irish started their comeback in the first half. LS had a 23-14 lead with over five minutes to go in the first half, but they were in foul trouble. Anna Harvey was regulated to the pine with 4:31 left in the first half as she picked up a third foul at mid court. The Cougars would not score again that half. LS still clung to a 23-20 lead at the break, but now Rosemount felt they could compete. Compete they did. They opened the second half with four high, the LS defense overplayed and Taylor Janssen, who was game high scorer with 19 points, slipped under for an easy lay up. Next time down, LS focused on Janssen and Larissa O\u2019Neil flared off the screen for a 3 and Rosemount never trailed again. Janssen scored the next two trips which quickly resulted in a LS time out. Rosemount had scored 15 unanswered points across two halves. On the flip side, LS went 14 trips without scoring, including the last possession of the first half which lasted 1:52. LS did battle back to tie the game at 36 after two quick steals and lay ups converted by Harvey. That all happened with 7:45 left in the game. Rosemount quickly called time and O\u2019Neil responded with another trey. LS would only score three more points in the game.<\/p>\n

The LS pressure did force 27 turnovers, but the Cougars could not take advantage of their good fortune. LS also had 20 more field goal attempts. One key factor in the Irish win was their ability to shoot from 3range. The made seven 3s for the game with 50% shooting. LS only converted two, but only shot 8% (missing 22).<\/p>\n

Rosemount came close to their first win on Saturday with an overtime loss to Edina.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n
