ANOKA<\/strong> 70, BLAINE 44<\/strong><\/p>\n

#19AAAA Anoka celebrated parent\u2019s night with a 70-44 win over<\/p>\n

district 11 rival Blaine 70-44. This game also had an impact on the Northwest Suburban race and has seeding implications in 7AAAA. The outcome was not unexpected. This was the fifth time this year the Bengals yielded 69 or more points. The Tornadoes were almost able to put running time on the Bengals holding a 64-30 lead with six minutes left. They never could add one more to their lead.<\/p>\n

This was not supposed to be the way the Bengals season was scripted. Theresa Mbanefo went down with a knee injury in the off season, but she was the only returning starter. Blaine is starting from scratch with their starting line up. Anoka relies on three returning starters and they delivered 32 points and all three were above 100 pp100. Blaine\u2019s starting five delivered 19 points. Blaine was definitely hampered by 37 turnovers. These occurred in the half court with Anoka pouncing on well advertised passes. Noelle Josephson snatched seven errant passes.<\/p>\n

Anoka established themselves as the team to beat early going up 8-0 in the first three minutes. The trajectory of the game didn\u2019t alter off that course the rest of the night.<\/p>\n

There was a sequence in the first half where the Tornadoes scored on six straight possessions (12-0 run). During that same time frame, the Bengals turned it over four times—all on passing decisions. By half Anoka led 38-21. Anoka\u2019s starters were through for the night at the 8:13 mark of the second half.<\/p>\n

I have now charted all the teams in section 7AAAA. That is my third complete section (along with 8AAAA and 2AAAA). I am at 86% of the teams charted in AAAA with nine to go. I am also at 68 on the top 100 in the QRF.<\/p>\n

Anoka is now 9-5 on the year. Blaine is now 5-9.<\/p>\n
