COMO<\/strong> PARK 5, HMONG ACADEMY 2<\/strong><\/p>\n

Como Park beat Twin Cities Athletic Conference leader Hmong Academy in a non conference match up at the Cougars home Friday afternoon. Como swept the doubles and split the singles taking the first two for their win. HA was competitive in the singles category with five sets decided by three points or less. CP\u2019s Taw Bee won the first set at second singles in extra points 25-23. The margins went up by a factor of five in doubles. Most matches there were decided by double digits.<\/p>\n

Earlier this year HA lost to Humboldt 7-0 in a foray into the St. Paul Conference.<\/p>\n

Como\u2019s Tu Lor Eh Paw moved to 9-5 on the season with a sweep over Koussy Vang. Paw built up steam in each set closing with runs of eight and nine. Once Paw reached the half way point at 11, she \u201cwon\u201d 20-3 the rest of the way combining each set. In the first set Paw had a magnet for the right side picking up 15 of her 18 winners on that side of the floor. In the second set she worked more of the front court with eight of her twelve winners landing there. Vang struggled to pick up winners ending up with eight for the match. Most of this match was spent in the three stroke zone. 40% of the points scored by Paw came in that category. Paw won the three strokes 17-1 (.944).<\/p>\n

Both teams have one week left of conference action before the conference tournaments. Those events will be fine tuning for the state tournament, which is rapidly approaching on May 17 and 18 with both days at Burnsville.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n
