HOLY FAMILY 63, ROCKFORD 49<\/strong><\/p>\n

#1 seed Holy Family advanced with a win over #9 Rockford in 5AA quarterfinal action Saturday afternoon. It was a whistle happy game with a combined 42 fouls with 52 free throw attempts. Three Rockets fouled out, but Rockford shot more and made more at the line. The Fire was on fire behind the 3 point line going 5\/7. Shea Thompson nailed her second of three 3s to put HF up for good at 7-4. Seven unanswered points over the course of two minutes in the first half created a cushion that HF would maintain the rest of the game (22-14). Rockford did cut into that lead at half (31-25), and got within four early in the second (35-31). Another Thompson 3 got the margin back to seven which initiated an 11-3 run. At the widest HF led by 17 (59-42).<\/p>\n

HF is now 20-8 and will see Minneapolis North on Tuesday at St. Michael-Albertville Middle School West (the old high school). Rockford finishes the year at 14-14<\/p>\n

You might be wondering why this game? It fit my time schedule as Stillwater played at Hastings at 5 pm (we lost to Woodbury 54-52). In the early games Rockford was the team I had not charted and they were the highest qrf left within the appropriate radius.<\/p>\n
