The only win for the Cougars came at second doubles where Yia Yang and Zoua Xiong beat Lilia Lee and Delihla Yang in three sets. That was the second three setter of the day. The other came at second singles where Bao Nhia Thao of Johnson took the last two sets over Nag Poe. Johnson was overwhelming at singles with a margin of a healthy 9.11 per set. Nag Poe’s first set win at second singles kept that score under ten. Six of the eight set wins by the Governors was in double digits. Yang & Xiong have bounced between first and second doubles for CP. At first doubles Y&X are 11-0. On Yang’s third service she added five more points for a 15-2 lead. It is hard to climb out of a 13 point hole so early in the match. That advantage set the tone for the rest of the day. Yang didn’t overwhelm Paw with winners, but Yang didn’t cut her own throat either. She only allowed eight points in both sets combined. Paw was triple that amount at 25. Paw had more winners in the second set than Yang (8-7), but could not squeeze a run out. The key segment in that set came on Yang’s fifth service when she added five more to her totals (13-5) including two deep aces. The pattern was similar to the first set—-a deep whole early.

Category

YANG

<td
