ABOUT LAST NIGHT…..OWATONNA & EAST RIDGE WIN
I knocked off three teams in the top 100 in the QRF Monday. The day started at White Bear Lake to chart #60 Brainerd and #73 Owatonna. Early on it looked like the Warriors, a state tournament team from a year ago, had Williams Arena as a March destination in mind as they built up a 20-9 lead with 6:56 remaining in the first half. They only scored four points the rest of the half and then only garnered 14 points in the second half. Owatonna did not keep to that scoring schedule. They flipped the tables 180 degrees with 57-18 score the rest of the way. To put it in pp100 terms: Brainerd started out with a 95.2-42.9 pp100 advantage. The remaining 25 minutes must have seemed like 24 hours as Owatonna blasted away with 114.0-36.7 switch.
An oddity…..I have charted four games at WBL this year and none have involved WBL.
The second game saw #8AAAA East Ridge hosting Lakeville South, #18 in the QRF. It was the visitors that had hopes of an upset grabbing a 5-0 lead early. It was quickly tied up and the last LS lead came at 9-8 with 12:29 left in the half. ER found their groove after that outscoring the Cougars 36-19. The Raptors created separation with six straight scores to push the lead to 21-13. In that stretch Vienna Murray, who is headed to Oklahoma, scored her 2000 career point on a put back with 10:31 to go in the first half. Murray had nine of 34 points in that string. The Raptors, who I charted at Forest Lake two weeks ago, avoided foul issues and that helped their play. In that FL game there were a combined 63 free throws attempted. Last night there were only 33.

31 CLUB
There were four players that made the 31 Club on Monday with one vaulting up to the 51 Club. Vienna Murray of East Ridge totaled 52 on the day on the strength of 34 points and going a sizzling 5/7 on 3s. She ended with a 130.8 pp100.
Next up was freshman guard Finley Rolloff of Owatonna with a 34 in the 31 Club. She had a day’s best 168.8 pp100. There was a sequence in the second half where she scored on three straight possessions. The set up was a teammate grabbing a missed Brainerd shot and then Rolloff rolling down court (she was at top of the zone defense) for easy lay ups. Prior to that string she capped off a four possession string with 8 points including an old fashioned three point play followed by one behind the arc. In total she had 14 straight Huskie points. Teammate Jersey Coleman, a junior forward, also made the 31 Club on the nose. But her pp100 was the lowest of the day at 68.2.
The only player from a losing team to make the cut was Audrey Schmidtke of Lakeville South with 31 on the nose against East Ridge. She ended with a pp100 of 138.5. She led the Cougars with 18 points and was 4/5 from 2s, 4/4 from FT, and 2/5 from deep.
