WEEK THAT WAS
UNBEATEN
We have a final five. Pine River-Backus went to Braham Tuesday and saw their undefeated season ended.
Now the question is how many can remain unblemished until March? My guess is the best hopes are in A.
Total undefeated left: 5
AAAA: 1 Rosemount
Leaving the list none
AAA: 0
AA: 2 Menahga; New London-Spicer
Leaving the list none
A: 2 Mountain Iron-Buhl; Sleepy Eye St. Mary’s
Leaving the list: Pine River-Backus lost to Braham on Tuesday. CHOF???? They disappeared from the MN Scores listing….check your milk cartons for more information.
What about the flip side of this? The winless? Here are the 18 hoping to stumble onto victory.
AAAA: Cambridge-Isanti
AAA: North Branch; Sauk Rapids-Rice
AA: Albert Lea; Redwood Valley; Parnassus
A: LeRoy-Ostrander, Madelia; Red Rock Central; Browerville-Eagle Valley; Ortonville; Verndale; Bigfork; and smaller charter/privates Lincoln International; MN Transitions; St. John’s Prep; Fond du Lac Ojibwe, and Community School of Excellence
STREAKING
Joining the lists this week is Menahga, also undefeated along with the Wildcats of NLS. Exiting, but without losing, just not enough games, is Hillcrest Lutheran.
Which of these teams can keep the streaks going through March? Again look to the small class for any chance there.
AAAA: 14 Rochester Mayo
AAA: 11 Hill-Murray
AA: 14 New London-Spicer, Menahga
A: 14 NRHEG, Sleepy Eye St. Mary’s, Mountain Iron-Buhl
QUEST FOR…
QRF
Five teams dropped last week—#24 Two River; #36 Champlin Park; #106 BOLD; #131 Pine River-Backus; #135 St. Croix Lutheran.
What is the end game? The hope? If I could Casey Kasem this list (top 40) I would be happy. Anything more than that is gravy. Missing four on that list.
Biggest fish not seen? #17 Stewartville

TOP 10S
Crossed off the list this week was #9A Pine River-Backus. My guess is that they don’t survive listing this week.
AAAA: 10/10-1.000
AAA: 9/10-.900
AA: 8/11 .727
A: 5/10-.500
Overall, it is 32/41 or .780 up .024 from the week before. Glacial progress.
#1S IN EACH SECTION
Checking off Pine River-Backus in 5A West helped. Braham bounced back in front in 5A East. Marshall also moved back in front in 2AAA helping my cause. My hope is to knock off three to four more this week (fingers crossed with weather).
AAAA: 8/8-1.000
AAA: 6/8-.750
AA: 5/9-.556
A: 5/11-.455
Grand totals: 24/36-.667.
SEEDING THE STATE
No changes in the big classes. Norwood-Young America is the newest addition in AA. Perham swaps out with DGF. I’m still not ready to list Menahga in AA. Schedule is A level. Sauk Centre returns. BBE joins the party in A. Mayer Lutheran moves up, CMC down.
