KENNEDY 6, FRIDLEY 1
The Eagles took down the Tigers in a battle for Tri-Metro bragging rights. (Both are members of that conference in all other sports). Fridley’s Nex prevented the host Eagles sweep with a win at second singles. Almost every set at singles was decided by ten or more points with the two sets that fell short at nine. The only contest that went to three sets came at second doubles with Kennedy’s Yalis and Mia winning the final two sets for the victory. This match also had the only extra point session with Fridley’s Victoria and Hannah taking the first set 22-20 forcing the Yalis and Mia comeback.
Kennedy moves to 3-7 overall on the year, 2-5 with the Suburban schools. Fridley is searching for their first win of the season is now 0-4.
31 down, one to go. With the Tigers off the board that leaves only the Eagles left…..Washington Tech variety.

FIRST SINGLES
ABBY 2, AXEL 0
(21-7, 21-12)
Kennedy’s Abby won in two with a pair of huge mega runs creating a safe separation between her and Axel. Abby was able to generate runs on her second serve in each set, but it was on her fourth service in the first set and her fifth service in the second that she exploded with runs of nine and eleven respectively. It turned a 5-4 lead in the first into a 14-4 margin and then turned a one-point deficit at 7-6 into a 17-7 lead in the second. Abby limited her errors to ten for the match. That played a part in the mega-runs with Axel handing four gifts on the run of nine and six in the eleven-point spree. Oddly enough Axel had a strong side-out game in the second holding Abby to scores on the second, fifth and seventh service of her seven attempts. Axel sided out at .571, but that mega-run of eleven doomed her chances.
Abby also held sway with 24 winners, her favorite being the drop with six (net play—not what I term the soft drive). Axel’s favorite was the drive which scored five times.
Abby evens her record at 5-5 this year. Axel is 0-3.
