GBB Out & About: Bemidji v Chisago Lakes 12.22.2018

BEMIDJI 66, CHISAGO LAKES 59

The visiting Bemidji Lumberjacks overcame a 9-0 deficit to start the

game and overcame the exit of Rumer Flatness, who picked up her fourth foul after four minutes elapsed in the second half, to pick up their fourth win in a row. 8AAA Bemidji had traveled four hours to face another AAA team Chisago Lakes of 7AAA. Flatness, before her fourth, had lifted the “Jacks” to a 35-30 lead behind her 3 point sharp shooting. With Flatness sitting down, Bemidji added five more points to their margin (52-42 with seven minutes remaining).

“Jacks” is on the back of the Bemidji jersey and they jacked up 33 3 attempts on the day converting eight. By contrast the Wildcats delivered three on 18 attempts—-a 15 point difference. In fact, CL beat Bemidji with paint touches 54-40 contrasting their game model. Part of the CL problems were due to the inability to make great decisions against the Bemidji full court pressure. The visitors had a +9 advantage on turnover differential. Both teams shot well from the 2 range each hitting 50 or more percent.

CL drops to 2-6 on the year. This was their third straight loss.

I have 39 more AAA teams to chart for the year. Next week with the Christmas break tournaments I will be dialing in on the AAAA teams I need to see.
