GBB Out & About: St. Anthony v Minneapolis Southwest

ST. ANTHONY 80, MINNEAPOLIS SOUTHWEST 45

There were a lot of make up games on the docket from last week’s

cold snap. This was not one of them. St. Anthony put running time on visiting Minneapolis Southwest 80-45 behind sizzling shooting from behind the arc by Amelia Zmuda who cashed in six of seven times and Sam Sibbet who connected twice. The Husky starters were sizzling with a 144.7 pp100. How quick did St. Anthony score? Every 2.73 touches for their varsity. The Lakers also had a one two punch (inside: Olivia Youngdahl with 18 and outside: Josephine Igherighe with 16). After that the rest of the squad mustered up 11. The big two shot 12/28 or .429; the rest of the team 2/15 or .133. That was the disparity on display tonight.

At the start it looked like both teams would have stratospheric pp100 as both teams scored four straight times. SW enjoyed their last lead a 7-6. Consecutive 3s from Sibbet and then Zmuda made it 19-11 and forced a SW time out. By halftime visions of running time were dancing in StA fans heads with 49-21. StA was north of running time with a 68-32 lead at 10:16 but the Lakers staved off the inevitable for a bit with a couple of scores. By that time the Husky starters were on the bench having left at the 12 minute mark. Running time did kick in at 4:43.

Since this is the second charting for SW how did they compare to the contest against Duluth East all the way back 11 days ago? Against the Greyhounds they checked in with a 98.5 pp100 on offense or 31.3 higher than today. That indicates their window offensively. Defensively the range is even steeper with a 117.6 to 70.8 or 46.8.

Why this game you may ask? To make these decisions without a lot of emotional attachment I simply go with the highest qrf team left I haven’t charted yet. St. Anthony were at 113.

St. Anthony evens up at 10-10. SW dips under .500 at 8-9.
