FIRST SINGLES

annika TUMA 2, taw BEE 0
(21-13, 22-20)

Central’s Annika Tuma swept Taw Bee and gave the Minutemen their only win in singles. Tuma opened the first set with the first six points started with a missed first serve by Bee. Bee got the bird back on a 12 stroke smash that started her own six point run. That would be Bee’s only run in the first set while Tuma tacked on three more including the final four points. Tuma avoided the errors that plagued Bee in the first set (6-14). Bee edged out Tuma in winners, not only in the first set but also in the match (19-15).

In set two Bee had the advantage early with a three point run to go up 4-1. That lead stayed with the Cougar out to 12-10. Then the tide shifted in Tuma’s direction. A run of three put her in front for the first time at 13-12. Twice Bee tied it at 18 and 20. A four stroke clear gave Tuma a second chance to close out the match and off the serve Bee hit it wide end the match.

Bee had 8 smashes to lead all winner categories, but that advantage was negated by 17 hitting errors that found the net.
