EDINA 6, EDEN PRAIRIE 1
The two Lake Conference badminton teams faced each other at Edina and the hosts took the match 6-1. The match had one injury withdrawal, at first singles, the primary reason for my trip to Hornet land. During warm ups prior to the first singles contest Eden Prairie’s Tracy Yang went back to the right back line and twisted her right ankle and was forced to withdraw. Ice was applied. The hosts took all four singles and the first two doubles. The only match that tipped over to the Eagles came at third doubles. No match went three sets. The only set that was within two points came at third doubles in the second set where Sydney Spears & Allie Pementell sealed their win 21-19.
I have two team left on the menu: Edison & Hiawatha Collegiate.

SECOND SINGLES
charlotte EVERIST 2, poorva HALBE 0
(21-13, 21-15)
Due to the injury and subsequent withdrawal at first singles, I didn’t migrate over to the second singles match until midway through their first set. That is why the numbers below will be skewed. When I arrived in the first set it was 7-5 in favor of Charlotte Everist. She ran off six straight shortly thereafter to pull in front 14-6. The second set was seen in full. Halbe had the early advantage here and led out to 8-6 despite neither player scoring a run of three. Everist brooke free with a run of four (10-8) with all points either two or three strokes. Another run of four created a bigger cushion (16-11). Everist prevented Halbe from any runs in the second set (and Halbe did not generate any in the first when I was watching).
