GBB Out & About: Burnsville v Eagan 2.6.2020

BURNSVILLE 66, EAGAN 53

Burnsville overcame a sluggish first half, exploded in the second for a 66-53 win over visiting Eagan on Thursday night. Paige Servais lit the fuse at the start of the second half with two straight 3s turning a 29-27 deficit into a 33-29 lead. Burnsville won the second half 39-24. Their pp100 went from a pedestrian 79.4 in the first half to a white hot 130.0 in the second half. The starters in the second half were even better at 140.0. The Wildcats were fairly consistent with their pp100s (85.3 and 82.8). Eagan stayed within shouting distance after a lay up by Lily Fandre made it 42-40 Burnsville. It was 55-50 with 4:30 left to go. The Blaze closed the contest with six straight scores including 9/11 from the line (the game fouled up). Their last field goal was on an &1 with 4:17 left.

Burnsville is now 14-7 on the year, 9-5 in the rugged South Suburban, all alone in third place. Eagan is 8-13 on the season and tied for ninth in the SSC at 2-11 (translation: Eagan is 6-2 outside of the conference).

This completes my South Suburban set for 2020. It also completes section 3AAAA. It is that time on the schedule. I have now completed four of the eight AAAA sections—all this week—1, 2, 3 and 7. I have four AAAA teams left on the vine with a 93.5% completion rate. That looks like it will happen this year with a miss of two last year. I’m at 69.4% for the AAA schools. I have nine left in the top 100 for a 91% rate.

This was my third former Missota conference visit this week, and Burnsville’s second showing in the last few weeks.
