Below is the quarterfinal matchups for the upcoming state tournament. Dates, Times and locations will be determined later.
As for the raised eyebrows in seeds—-AAAA went according to Hoyle; probably AAA too with the Holy Angels win over Becker giving them the #1N seed. AA is interesting. Lake City from the historically competitive section 1AA was the 4th seed in the south half being bypassed by Glencoe-Silver Lake, a team that was the #3 seed in the north half of 2AA. Class A had no major issues.
As for the eventual champion, if I check my crystal ball—-
AAAA: Hopkins. NO ONE wanted to be in their half of the bracket. Farmington won out in the battle of the three unbeatens for #1S and will get the 2020 final that was never played. Hopkins will be unblemished.
AAA: We could be looking forward to a Becker v Holy Angels rematch with a turn in the outcome.
AA: My spidey instincts point to a private school final from the IMAC conference with Providence going three for three over Minnehaha.
A: This could be another rematch of a regular season game with both #1s meeting. Minneota edges BBE.
