Johnson won their eleventh state team badminton title with two 6-1 wins over Burnsville in the semis, and then Humboldt in the title match Thursday afternoon. It was the Governors’ sixth straight title (with 2020 a blank due to the virus). This was Humboldt’s first appearance in the title game snapping two straight runner up finishes for the Eagles. #3 Humboldt was the only lower seeded team to defeat a higher seed during the tournament.
I will have more on the singles matches later tonight……counting is still an issue (two matches ended BEFORE the winner reached 21).
