MINNEAPOLIS ROOSEVELT 6, NORTH ST. PAUL 1
The first out & about of 2022 took place at a brand new school—-North St. Paul has joined the badminton club and they hosted Minneapolis Roosevelt in the first game for the new program. The Teddies swept the doubles and took the last three singles in their first match of the year. The Polars did succeed in taking first singles. The singles proved to be a bit closer than the doubles with second singles going the maximum of three sets, including an extra point second set.
NSP has six courts with seating along the sides. The middle portion between the singles and doubles do not accommodate any viewing opportunities. The Polars right now have a dozen players, but more are anticipated to join. The first sessions happened during the NSP spring break with many students unaware of the chance to play. Coaching at NSP is Panou Xiong, a 2015 graduate of Harding.
Roosevelt was able to play with most of the other Minneapolis city games postponed/cancelled due to the ongoing teacher strike now in the third week.
