HIGHLAND PARK 6, HUMBOLDT 1
Highland Park swept the singles and took the last two doubles to beat Humboldt 6-1 in St. Paul city conference action Tuesday afternoon. The Scots had five sets in the singles that were decided by double digits. The Hawk pair of Tree & Yunee delivered a two set win for Humboldt. No sets lasted longer than two in this match. There were two sets in doubles that were decided by the slim margin of two points with both sides getting a narrow win. Tree & Yunee did so in their first set; the HP third doubles pair of Claudia Rodriguez-Foster and Violet Solem Valentine picked it up for the Scots.
This was Humboldt’s second straight match in as many days. Yesterday they fell at Edina 7-0 to the Hornets.

FIRST SINGLES
SUNSHINE VANG 2, WAH CHRI 0
(21-3, 22-8)
Highland Park’s Sunshine Vang did shine brightly in her two set sweep over Humboldt’s Wah Chri. Vang held Chri to only two points off her service and limited her winners to three. Vang piled up 27 winners. When Chri had the serve (ten times), Vang stopped it six times on a two stroke soft drive to the racquet hand. The other time that she got a winner on the two stroke was on a smash.
The scene was set quickly with Vang getting the two stroke soft drive to open the match and then added eight more points for a 9-0 lead. Her next service tacked on six more for a commanding 16-1 lead. All the points in that second service scored as winners. Set two was closer, and there was one point where the players lost track of the totals. Chri never did have a run, but she did tie it at four with two consecutive points. A serve that sailed deep gave the bird back and Vang ran off six more for an 11-4 lead. Toward the end Chri had more errors on the two stroke. Four of Vang’s last seven points came in this manner including the final two.
Vang made quick work of Chri. The whole match lasted one second under ten minutes.
