ABOUT LAST NIGHT…

There was no charting by yours truly yesterday. I left the house to grab some lunch on the way to the game, but….with ice coating the windshield and the turns not as crisp as I would like on the streets and in the drivethru, I hightailed it back home. I have visited the ditch once in my life. I don’t intend to make that visit again.

UNBEATEN

32 teams remain without a loss. Last week there were 59. If the same attrition rate holds this week (it won’t) there will be only five teams left.

Three of the four classes have dropped to ten or less with the listing. AA is the holdout. They still have 18 schools left. They may not get to ten or less until the New Year.

AAAAA has only one remaining: New Prague. That class is on track to be the first with no unbeatens. The Trojans only contest this week is when they host Chanhassen on Thursday. AAA covers the four corners of the state (kind of— if Monticello is northwest). AA has unbeatens in every section. Four of their members are private/charters. A has four public school alphabet combinations. Only one of the nine left standing is a public school alone with one town in their name: Underwood. The Rockets have been to state the past two years from section 6. Four of the undefeated in A are privates.

Will any of these unbeatens remain so until the final tournament day in March? The best bet would be Providence. With Goodhue dropping to Stewartville this week that eliminated the opportunity in A.

AAAA-1

New Prague

AAA-4

Austin, Marshall, Monticello, Rock Ridge,

AA-18 listing when there are 10 schools or less.

A-9

Sleepy Eye St. Mary’s, CHOF, United Christian, Walker-Hackensack-Akeley, Hillcrest Lutheran, Underwood, Cass Lake-Bena, Kittson County Central, Warren-Alvarado-Oslo

STREAKERS

There are three new leaders this week. The only one that remains the same is Providence. The Lions are now at 20 for the longest active streak in the state. Former leaders Mounds View, Delano and Goodhue are all trying to rebuild streaks. There is a log jam in A with five teams tied with six wins.

AAAA: 6 Eden Prairie

AAA:  8 Marshall

AA: 20 Providence (11+9)

A: 6 Sleepy Eye St. Mary’s; Walker-Hackensack-Akeley; Underwood; Cass Lake-Bena; Warren-Alvarado-Oslo

QUEST FOR….

The QRF

1-10: 8– .800

1-20: 10– .500

1-30: 15– .500

1-40: 16– .400

Top 10

AAAA 9/10-.900 Prior Lake is not charted

AAA 8/10-.800 Marshall and Rock Ridge to be charted

AA 2/10-.200

A 1/10-.100

#1 in each section/subsection

AAAA 4/8-.500 Edina is the #1 listed in Minnesota scores otherwise I would be at 5/8 with Wayzata & Hopkins under my belt in 6AAAA.

AAA 5/8-.625 knocked off four of these this past week alone.

AA 2/9 .222

A 0/12 .000  ….obviously some work is needed here.
