WEEK THAT WAS

UNBEATEN

No one is alive in the bigger classes after Rosemount’s 13 game win streak was snapped by Prior Lake on the road 80-71. Prior Lake continued its streak by defeating ranked teams for the week with Eastview falling victim to the Lakers on Friday 75-62 also on their home court.

Total undefeated left: 4

AAAA: 0

Leaving the list Rosemount on Tuesday in the loss to Prior Lake.

AAA: 0

AA: 2 Menahga; New London-Spicer

Leaving the list none

A: 2  Mountain Iron-Buhl; Sleepy Eye St. Mary’s

Leaving the list: none

What about the flip side of this? The winless? Here are the 18 hoping to stumble onto victory.

Cambridge-Isanti was the last AAAA team to claim victory for the season when the Bluejackets edged out Chisago Lakes 41-39 on Tuesday. There was no movement on the other three classes.

My expectations are that A will have several and we may not see any movement at the AAA or AA levels.

AAAA: 0

AAA: North Branch; Sauk Rapids-Rice

AA: Albert Lea; Redwood Valley; Parnassus

A: LeRoy-Ostrander, Madelia; Red Rock Central; Browerville-Eagle Valley; Ortonville; Verndale; Bigfork; and smaller charter/privates Lincoln International; MN Transitions; St. John’s Prep; Fond du Lac Ojibwe, and Community School of Excellence

STREAKING

Several changes here. The biggest is a new leader in AAA after Hill-Murray lost at Marshall on Saturday. Stewartville takes over. Menahga, who did not lose, is not tied with the AA lead with New London-Spicer as the Wildcats have a game up on the Braves. NRHEG joins the party in A.

AAAA: 16 Rochester Mayo

AAA: 14 Stewartville

AA: 16 New London-Spicer

A: 16 NRHEG, Sleepy Eye St. Mary’s, Mountain Iron-Buhl, NRHEG

QUEST FOR…

QRF

The week started off promising with four games at St. Catherine’s on Monday followed by two section leaders at Norwood-Young America on Tuesday. Then several things conspired to keep me in the house. #1 it was cold. My car’s battery refused to budge on Monday. Luckily I had other options. Then later in the week another refusal. Sorry to say that battery has seen it’s last days. #2 then it snowed and kept me hunkered down for Wednesday. Then I got ill and was not ready to travel.

#15 Stewartville, #41 New London-Spicer, #67 White Bear Lake; #74 Goodhue; # 94 Norwood-Young America (or as it is listed “Central”); #151 Winona Cotter all were checklisted.

Biggest fish not seen? #25 Woodbury

TOP 10S

Stewartville and New London-Spicer helped cut the totals here. Now all the big schools top 10s have been charted. Perham and Fairmont are missing in AA; SESM, KN, NRHEG, HBC and CMC in A.

AAAA: 10/10-1.000

AAA: 10/10-1.000

AA: 8/10 .800

A: 5/10-.500

Overall, it is 32/40 or .825 780  up .045 from the week before.

#1S IN EACH SECTION

Stewartville in AAA and New London-Spicer and Norwood-Young America in AA helped cut the number of teams left to see to nine. Those numbers are going to be hard to achieve since many do not play in the travel radius I have set up.

AAAA: 8/8-1.000

AAA: 7/8-.750

AA: 7/9-.778

A: 5/11-.455

Grand totals: 27/36-.750.

SEEDING THE STATE

New team, same section in AAAA. Wayzata replaces Hopkins. The Trojans have a leg up in hosting the 6AAAA title game now.

Changes at the bottom of the AAA listing with Fergus replacing Little Falls and Becker flipping with Totino. No changes in AA. NRHEG jumps up in A.
