ROOSEVELT 7, BURNSVILLE 0
Burnsville finally got their first home game. They were to have played Roosevelt on March 23. Then the Blaze had two other home matches that were scheduled, but with transportation and weather issues both of those were postponed. Today Roosevelt, the original first home opponent, was the first opponent after all. And the Teddies doused the Blaze 7-0. It seems that every match I have charted lately is on the same loop. This is the third straight sweep this week and they all have the same hallmarks: two setters, with the margins not that close. Today was no exception. The Teddies had six of the eight sets in singles and five of the six sets in doubles decided by ten or more points. At no point did any Blaze get double digits in both sets.
Roosevelt moves to 6-1 in the year, the Blaze falls to 1-2.

FIRST SINGLES
Mollie ANDERSON 2, Violet RUANO 0
(reported 21-6, 21-9)
The better teams have interchangeable players that could function at both first and second singles. Roosevelt has that capability. Mollie Anderson, who opened the season with three wins at second singles, has moved to the top of the list for the Teddies and has had two wins this week. Today she had a convincing two set win over Violet Ruano, who also started the season at second singles. The difference is she moved to the top of the list for the Blaze due to the absence of Jihan Ahmed. Anderson dominated sideout percentage .846 to .308, runs 7-1, and winners 35-6. In fact Anderson had three winner categories that totaled more than Ruano’s entire winner total. Anderson’s most used winner today was a dozen smashes. For the match Anderson had Ruano on a string, moving her up to the net and then sending a clear to the back line forcing Ruano to do a lot of running. Also Anderson was able to score off Ruano’s serve in two strokes nine of the 13 attempts for a .692 percentage.
Anderson took control of the match on her second service in the first set cranking out eight straight points to lead 10-1. In that run, started by a two stroke soft drive to get the bird back, she had seven more winners, six of which lasted three strokes. The longest stroke count was a nine stroke clear. Anderson won the long points (five strokes or more) 8-1 or .889.
While clears were the winner of choice in the first set six times, the power game with the smash came to the front in the second set with eight total. But Ruano did hold leads early, the last coming at 3-2. Then Anderson had the first of three runs in that set to go in front 7-3. Another eight point run on Anderson’s fifth service raised the score to 15-5. Ruano was able to squeeze a run directly after that, her only run of the match.
One area Anderson had issues with was on serve with Ruano getting six of her 15 points via missed Anderson serves.
