ST. CROIX LUTHERAN 54, ST. AGNES 41
Thanks to Monday’s snowstorm, and then the messy aftermath
Tuesday in which certain schools were called, Wednesday night became a catch all for postponed games. One such game took place in the TriMetro Conference (East) where the visiting Crusaders from St. Croix Lutheran corralled the host St. Agnes Aggies 54-41. St. Agnes had one lead in the game—at 2-0. SCL led at the break 29-17. With 11 minutes remaining SCL led 44-20. The Crusaders started to sub with differing player combos and that opened the door for a hope for St. Agnes. With a little over two minutes left the margin was cut down to eleven as the Aggies went on a 16-3 run (47-36). SCL responded with their starters reinserted and they held off the late charge.
The Crusaders used a trio of double digit scorers to keep separation from St. Agnes. Offensively SCL was able to get the ball inside to their prime targets Stephanie Miller and Luci Hauge (13 & 15 points). On the outside Audrey Gadison, who is headed to the Air Force, was a force behind the arc with four triples on her way to 16 points. That is 48 combined points for their trio. St. Agnes also had balance, but a notch or two down. Their top three scorers ended up with 29 points.
In the past both these teams were AA entrants. SCL has moved up to the AAA level and make their home in section 3 with Holy Angels. SCL is now 9-6 overall, and 3-1 in the TME. The Aggies drop to 12-6 and 4-2.
