BURNSVILLE TRIANGULAR
Final edition
Everybody was tied up in knots in a Suburban Triangular Thursday afternoon. As a result, the clarity of seeding teams in the state tournament is still muddy. #10 Burnsville opened with a 5-2 win over #11 Kennedy. The Eagles then had their own 5-2 win over #9 Edina. The Hornets completed the circle with a 4-3 win over the hosts. That left all three teams with a 1-1 record. What is a ranker to do? The next level I would look at is the matches won for the day: Burnsville 8, Kennedy 7, Edina 6. Using that standard the hosts were the “winners” for the day. Needless to say all three teams are bunched still and there were some things each team can take some joy in, but no one left overjoyed.
BURNSVILLE 5, KENNEDY 2
The Blaze swept the doubles and squeezed out two three set wins at second and third singles. At the end of the first set Kennedy led in all four singles. A change of two points at second singles and two points in third singles would have given the Eagles a 4-3 win.
This was Burnsville’s second win over Kennedy this season.

KENNEDY 5, EDINA 2
Kennedy swept the singles, this time they were able to turn second and third singles in three sets. In addition they added second doubles. Since we looked a change of points in the first set, a change of points—4 at second singles and two at third singles would have given Edina a 4-3 win.
This was the Eagles second win over Edina this year.

EDINA 4, BURNSVILLE 3
Edina spoiled an outright Burnsville win for the day taking the third doubles match, the last match out breaking a three all tie. The two teams split singles, but the Hornets grabbed both odd doubles that went to three sets. How close was this match? Both teams ended up with the same amount of points 279-279. The “what if” game was too wide to tip the scales.
Edina won the previous contest too.

FIRST SINGLES
mia COMA 2, megan PETERSON 0
(21-11, 21-13)
Mia Coma did not allow a run in the sweep over Megan Peterson. Peterson did have two more winners than Coma. Errors accounted for 71% of the points. For some reason the bird was flying deep in this match. The first four points of this match were all errors, all deep. One got the feeling of a deadline was to be met, or a plane/train had to be met.
