BIG LAKE 61, ROCORI 24
#2 Big Lake put running time on #7 Rocori in 5AAA quarterfinal
action on Tuesday night. This marked the second straight day of running time, although Big Lake didn’t get to the 35 point differential until there were six minutes left. There really was going to be no mystery to the outcome of this game right from the start. BL got the tip, but missed on the lay up. The Hornets would score on their fourth possession. Rocori was unable to find the bottom of the net until 7:12 remained in the first half—-a 10 minute and change drought. It was their 17th possession. By the time the Spartans scored the Hornets were up comfortably 18-0. BL had enough points on the scoreboard for the win with four minutes left in the first half. By the break BL had doubled up Rocori 28-14. All this happened despite BL only connecting for 20% of their shots in the first half. Things improved for the Hornets in the second half as the field goal percentage shot up to 34%.
Big Lake moves on with a record of 13-13. They will face the winner of Zimmerman (#3) and Monticello (#6) Saturday in the 5AAA semis in Buffalo. Rocori season ends with a 2-25 mark.
I have now seen 77% of the AAA teams and there are only two teams out there I haven’t charted in the top 100. Big Lake was #80 on the list today. The clock is ticking.
