Here is how the Mill City high school championship teams filtered out for high school teams. The MN Prep Scott and MN Energy squads added some unfamiliar teams that will not be expected to be seen in March. There are some commonalities in the lists from the Summer Jam and the State AAU tournaments. As we have noted throughout the spring, Hopkins and Wayzata are headed for a doozy section 6AAAA championship. Simley is a team that should not be neglected. They had a few rostered with Energy.
The Metro West had three teams in the mix this weekend which trailed the leaders from the South Suburban and NW Suburban which had four; the mighty Lake had two.
4: Simley
3: Bloomington Kennedy, Chaska, Hopkins, Irondale; St. Michael-Albertville
2: Apple Valley, Armstrong, Chanhassen, Eastview, Elk River, Lakeville North, Maple Grove, Prior Lake, Rochester JM, Wayzata
Bold: made the list at summer jam
Underlined: made the list at the State AAU Tournament
If we just focus on the Platinum/Gold divisions the sorting out is interesting—-for now and the future. Get used to these teams:
3: Chaska; Hopkins; St. Michael-Albertville
2: Eastview: Elk River; Lakeville North; Prior Lake; Rochester JM; Simley, Wayzata
Chaska is on the rise and they are still young. The Hopkins group in this tournament was all 2022s speaking of young. If you think Hopkins is going to need to rebuild in the coming years you are wrong. There is a never ending pipeline of talent available for the Royals. STMA is also young with no one above 2021.
The Best is Yet to Come.
