Ranked Upsets: two, both in 6A leaving both #1s on the sidelines. In the North #2 seed Underwood upended #10 ranked & 1 seed Hillcrest Lutheran. In the South it was #2 seed West Central breaking #3 ranked and #1 seed Breckenridge’s heart. The Cowgirls are now the highest ranked team to fall in A and they are tied with NLS as #3s out of the state picture.

Other broken heart news—-the #2 seed in 6AA undefeated Royalton had their hopes dashed by #3 seed Milaca. The Wolves got revenge for an earlier loss on the year. Jordan, who was ranked in the top ten, but #3 in 5AA stopped #2 seed and unranked Minneapolis North. If you wanted nailbiters you had to be at Concordia Moorhead for the 8AA semis where both higher seeds survived two point games.

MILESTONES

The Providence Lions had two players reach milestones in the win over Maranatha:

Sophomore Emma Millerbernd got to the 1000 point level and Maddy Greenway reached 1000 assists. This is the first time this season a player cracked the assist marker.

DAY AHEAD

Today the first team is supposed to punch their ticket to state. 2AAA has their final scheduled at the Lund Center on the campus of Gustavus in St. Peter. The 7AA semis take place at Romano Gymnasium at UM Duluth with three of the four teams ranked.
