DID YOU KNOW?
—This is the first state tournament trips for East Ridge & Chanhassen. Chan’s first year was 2009-10. Prior to this year their postseason record was 2-16. This year they have more than doubled that mark at 3-0. East Ridge’s first year was also 2009-10. But they have won 13 postseason games prior to this year.
—-Hopkins has had at least one postseason win for the last 27 years, the longest streak going in AAAA. Next up is St. Michael-Albertville at 23. BUT…..Lakeville North has 21. IF we add Lakeville to that mix they are at least 32 with their streak starting in the 1994-95 season. Andy Berkvam was coaching the single school Panthers at the start of that string and is now in his second stint with LN.
—-the longest winless streak currently at AAAA belongs to Duluth East with 14 years.
SEEDING THE STATE (AAAA & AAA FINAL)
Monticello and NRHEG are going to state for the second straight year, but in different classes. The Magic were in 8AAA last year, 8AAAA this year. NRHEG was in 2AA last year, this year 1A. I will have the AA & A final seeds after Friday’s games.
The first #1 ranked team to exit the postseason was Orono with their loss to BSM last night.
