2024 Badminton Poll #1

2024 BADMINTON POLL 1

The 2024 season began in earnest last week. I was able to get out to five contests meaning I have already charted ten different schools. From my count I see there are 27 schools doing badminton this year. That means I have already seen 37% of the schools. I am one away from completion in the St. Paul Conference and from the looks of it, the city race (and by implications the state race) will be close and tight. Johnson, a perennial top seed, already has seen two losses to their totals.

There is one familiar school missing from the list. Trinity is not fielding a squad this year. There is one new addition (at least so far) on the schedule with Twin City Academy, a member of the EMAC, joining the circuit. Another EMAC school, Avail Academy, was expected to also join, but that now has been postponed a year….perhaps.

Some big schools have yet to play a contest this year. Defending champion Edina and Eden Prairie are the two biggest. That will change this week. But they do not show up on the rankings below simply because they have not been action. They both will make the appearance next week in the polls for both team and singles and doubles.
